History of LAL Division

Although our company’s experience with LAL testing dates back to the mid 1980’s, in 2002 Wako began a serious and concentrated effort to enter the LAL business sector by completing the acquisition of Haemachem, Inc. located in St. Louis, Missouri. At that time we established a new division solely dedicated to the formulation, production, and sale of LAL reagents. In 2008, the business was relocated to our brand new, FDA licensed production facility, located on the grounds of our corporate headquarters in Richmond, VA. It is in this facility that we were able to perfect the patented formulation PYROSTAR™ ES-F, a unique LAL endotoxin test that can be used either as a quantitative turbidimetric test or as a qualitative gel-test. PYROSTAR™ ES-F is formulated for the specific determination of gram negative bacterial endotoxins without interference from the presence of beta-Glucans in the sample. The FDA release of the PYROSTAR™ ES-F product has encouraged our LAL Division to enter aggressively and competitively into new world markets. Previously an unknown company in the LAL market, Wako Chemicals LAL Division pushes to make our presence known throughout the world as a quality manufacturer of LAL products.
